December Eh

We had an extremely unusual Fall in that it lasted until the end of November - loved it. It is however now Winter and this week varied between -8 and -27 C. Ouch. Determined to continue our training for the May marathon, Sandy and I have been keeping with our regular running schedule with full winter running regalia. Its actually not quite so bad as it sounds but it sounds bad so that leaves room for some discomfort. When I came in from a longer run last Saturday, by drink bottle had frozen up!
Basketball season is in full swing. Darin made the varsity team at Centennial HS and is busy with the initial round of pre-season tournaments. He just received his acceptance letter from the Y so we'll make plans to drop him off next Fall. That will feel very strange to be down to five. Tanner starts Jr. High tryouts tomorrow and Logan and Kallie continue with community league play.
Sandy and I had a nice weekend together up at Lake Louise and watched the World Cup Mens downhill and Super G. At 80mph you have to watch carefully as these guys come by or you miss. Canada did well with the US's Body Miller placing around 13th.
All is well with Shell. We moved into offices across the street and are adapting to our new world of full Royal Dutch ownership - lots of "helpful" new processes from Head Office to implement. You would think that with $90 oil we would all be dancing in the streets but rig costs and labour costs have followed oil right up so HQ is still very concerned about cost reductions - go figure.
We'll be in Canada this Christmas and won't get to see you but we hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Love Dave and Sandy
