Hi Family,
September over - what is going on with the space time continuum? Months used to be 28-31 days!
The kids are back in school and sports -football and basketball at present. I'm coaching Logan's football team and having fun with that. We've been throwing a few American football plays at em here with some success. We've had several weeks of fall so far which is more than we had last year. We did get our first snow on Sept. 19 which was a shock but it didn't last long. Hoping for a few more weeks of fall.
We worked on a city-wide food drive in Sept. which was fun. Huge semi-trucks of food were collected for the homeless. Its a big event each year in Calgary and the LDS organization works very well for this sort of thing. The other religious groups in the city are usually amazed at how much the wards produce.
Baptized Kallie a few weeks ago. Castletons came up for that. Darin baptized her and I confirmed. The last of the baptisms - another of life's little milestones passed.
Tanner passed his test for a driving learner's permit. You can drive at 14 here if a licensed adult is in the car. I take him out to parking lots to get the hang of things. They don't offer instruction in schools.
The Canadian dollar is worth more than the American dollar now so if you thought things were expensive before.... interesting times.
After years of trying to send gifts from a distance and in a desire to simplify Christmas, we've decided just to do cards this year and maybe some specific gifts for a particular need so we asked Mom not to put us on the exchange list this year and hope that won't put anyone out. Not being around to find out what a meaningful gift would be and paying more for postage than the value of the gift took some of the fun out of it.
We start Canadian Thanksgiving next week although its pretty low key here. Still, two Thanksgivings in a year is not bad!
