We thought the Calgary City championships were dramatic. This weekend we won first place in the top division of Alberta Province. It was great. Our little Bad News Bears team somehow beat the big bad girls from Calgary Aces and then Red Deer in the finals. Definitely the underdogs. We just made the finals, and were down 8 points after five innings. Kallie came in to pitch a great final three innings to shut Red Deer down and we crept back in to win it 14-16.
Sandy happened to catch Kallie score the winning run on this video.
The games leading up to the final were all exciting but the final was fun because almost every member of the team contributed in some way. We'll be sad that the season is over.
In other news, we just ordained Logan a Teacher. Its amazing how they march on. Tanner just had his Patriarchal Blessing and Darin is still having a blast in Japan. Tanner and Logan just returned from Pioneer Trek - Alberta style up in the Kananaskis foothills. They seemed to have weathered it all pretty well.
Sandy and I had a nice weekend away from kid stuff in Toronto and Montreal. That would be our once in a decade getaway. Lots of restructuring at Shell. I'm applying for a posting in Asia but its kind of a long shot so we assume one more year in Calgary, then either Houston, Hague, or London.
Looking forward to seeing most of you in Lake Powell!
Love Dave and Sandy
