Dear Family,
Lots of action this month. We just got back from Toronto and Montreal. I had some business back East and Sandy came along. Our first multi-day trip away, leaving the kids on their own(Kallie stayed with our friends the Dillings. They all survived, although we might have wished the house in a slightly more pristine condition on our return. Its fun to be in the position to be able to leave them home. They get along really well and have very trustworthy friends so no wild parties while we are gone (or they are very adeptat cleaning up). Old Montreal was nice. We walked the old streets andalong the canals that border the St. Lawrence river. Weird to be in Canada, but in a place where very little English is spoken. Feels likea foreign country at times.
Darin is still having a great time in Tokyo. His letters are full offun and growth. They are definitely into summer now with very hot andsticky weather. He and his companion bike for hours on some days buthe seems to enjoy it all. Hard to believe that he is 1/4 of the way!!
Tanner and his best friend are into a summer workout program for football next year. The varsity coach is keen to get him in as tailback. He just had his Patriarchal Blessing this morning which wasa wonderful experience. Huge potential for this guy. He has overcome his initial loathing of driving and quite enjoys the independence acar can bring. He's active with guitar lessons and workouts. He and his buddies saved up for Coldplay tickets and had a great time at the concert last week.
Logan finished school up strong. He swept the academic award assembly plus athlete of the year so we were happy for him. He and Tanner headout on Pioneer Trek next week with the Stake youth. They are perhaps not overly enthusiastic about the idea of life without computers and cell phones but we think they'll have a good experience.
Kallie had an amazing weekend last week. I coach her softball team and they entered the city wide tournament which concludes the season. They were seeded third of the 17 teams and had to play the toughest team (the Chaos) early in the tourney. The Chaos were 13-1for the season, their only loss being to us. They have a pitcher that allowed no hits the entire season! We just lost our first tourney game to them 6-5 and had to win everything else to stay alive. We won enough to get back in it and faced the Chaos again for thesemi-finals. Kallie and her buddy Curra both hit off the Chaos pitcher for the first time and broke the myth of the unhittable pitcher. After that, the girls started swinging and things started happening! Kallie shut the Chaos down with some great pitching and we won the semi-final. Interestingly, we had to play the Chaos again for the CityChampionship (since they'd only lost the once to us) and the samething happened. Kallie hit two home runs off the invinciple pitcherand pitched three great innings to shut them down again so the #3 seedtook it all!! The girls were so excited to be city champs. Next weekend we go to the Provincial tournament.
We can't wait for Bear Lake and Lake Powell with each of our families. Should be a great summer.

Love Dave and Sandy
