The Great Football Day

OK this is nothing more than parental boasting so if that sort of thing annoys you stop reading now. We had a fantastic experience last weekend. Having come to the end of the regular football season for Tanner and Logan's league, their teams went to McMahon Stadium for the finals. This is the stadium for our professional team the Calgary Stampeders so it was very exciting to play in the big house on Astroturf etc. Tanner's team won their semi-final game with Tanner running in an interception and winning the game MVP award. Then it got crazy. One of the team's in Tanner's league (9-10 graders) had some injuries and needed three additional players. The Commissioner of the league asked Logan and two of his friends if they would play up two grades with the big boys to fill out the team. Logan was MVP of his league for the year so the Commish knew him. It was a bit scary to play with guys, some of whom are my size but he agreed. They put he and his friends in minor blocking positions for the first half and where getting shellacked. The coach knew Logan had had a great QB season in his own league so he put him in at QB to start the 2nd half. First play - a 6'2" kid breaks through and blocks Logan's first pass. Second play - he starts moving out of the pocket and throws a beautiful 25 yard touch down strike to his buddy Brad who ran it all the way in! Everyone in the stands is asking who these little kids are. The other coach is screaming at his guys that all they have to do is cover these three little kids. So he throws two more touchdown passes in the second half, one to Brad, and one to an older boy and brings them to within 1 point. In the final point after, the reciever dropped the pass so the team lost by 1. Logan won the game MVP for Tanner's league - it was crazy. By the time his own League's finals game came up it was fairly anti-clamactic. They won easily and Logan won the game MVP. Tanner's team took the finals and T scooped up another MVP. So this is where doing all those dirty diapers was worth it.
