Hi again,
Doug and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary yesterday and there are a few thoughts I'd like to share with you (Mandy, you've already heard most of this, so you probably won't have to read this again). Doug surprised me with a beautiful boutique of flowers, a very tender love note, and a commemorative plate that says "45 years". We didn't actually get to do anything special because he had to teach in Bountiful that night but I was happy to ride as far as the SLFHL with him and do some research while he did his thing, and then of course we had the ride back together. His home teaching companion, who is single and whom we've had over for dinner a few times brought over a half gallon of his favorite ice cream he wanted us to try so we celebrated with a dish of ice cream before we went to bed, and that was the day. It's been a great life (so far) and we could only hope our kids will be as happy and as blessed as we have been. We both agreed we were so dumb and naive 45 years ago we didn't know what we were getting into, and didn't even know each other all that well, but we're sure grateful it has all worked out so well. Doug has always been totally loyal to me and expresses his love and appreciation often. He is patient with my idiosyncasies and supports me in my callings and passions. He has always taken care of his family spiritually and financially, we've always had more than enough of the material things of life, and he loves to serve the Lord. If he only liked to go bike riding occasionally he'd be perfect. It is our hope and prayer that each of you will be as happy together when you have been at it 45 years. Love mom
