Sorry for the tardy entry. James had a four day weekend with Labor Day and so we decided to take the kids to San Diego and introduce them to the beach for the first time. Though James' parents are in Africa on their mission, he still has three siblings who live there. We stayed with his oldest brother, Ethan, and their three kids. Claire and Clay weren't too thrilled about the beach until they'd had their nap. Clay never really did wake up (he's my sleeper), so I only have pictures of Claire enjoying the cold water and sand. The weekend also included the San Diego zoo which was fun.
With the month of August the twins turned 4 months and Buddy turned 5. We had a birthday at the park across the street and blew bubbles. That was the extent of that. Also this month I could've used a trip to Drew's new hang out, Static. Nice video, by the way, and what a handsome mook. Instead, I became subject to the mall's talents and a girl who'd been working there less than two weeks. Needless to say, my hair is all hacked off and all I can do with it is the fauxhawk. Mom and dad, that is like a Mohawk, but shorter. I'm having fun with it and James loves it. It's just hair, after all.
The twins big accomplishment in August was sleeping through the night which was an amazing experience. They even performed this feat at the ward camp out which was the first weekend of the month. They really are a lot of fun and rarely stop smiling.
So, to keep life a little interesting, I have become a mystery shopper. Yes, these really exist. It brings in a couple of bucks and some funny experiences. If you're interested, I'll give out more info...they have lots of openings in Canada....:). We're sure looking forward to the new baby this month for Jon and Denise, AND for mom and dad's visit next weekend. Dad has a quickly growing fan club here. Just last week, a lady in RS was raving about Doug Brinley and how everyone should go to his lecture when he comes. I sit and smile to myself, "that's my dad."

Mandy, what a funny picture! I have a sad hair story, too. I think I told you on the phone I was going to or had just had a perm. Well, the cute girl at Dallas Roberts Beauty School did a good job but the whole idea was a bad one. Because I'd colored it at home about three weeks before the perm on top of the coloring really damaged my hair and I had her use rods that were too small (all I really wanted was body to hold the curl a little longer than an hour!) Anyway, the overall result was a disaster. I went home and washed out the perm but of course the damage was done so I went to the girl who usually cuts my hair at Just Cuts and screamed "Help!". She tried to layer and texture it to see if that would help but short of shaving it off that's about all I could do. Bald really wasn't so bad, I'm thinking.
We're reallying looking forward to being there in a couple of weeks. Love mom
