Hi family, I guess you all got the new invitation to join the Brinleylounge, right? I told Drew I was having trouble getting in and Becky said she hadn't been able to for some time. I think Dave had trouble with it sometimes. Anyway, I hope that is all corrected now. I loved it when we were all participating every month.
An update on Drew. His liver is beginning to complain---meaning his skin and eyeballs are taking on a yellowish tone. He doesn't eat very much so he's losing weight. His hospice nurse said the extended tummy that makes it uncomfortable for him to eat is because the tumors are releasing water in his abdomen. If this gets really big and tight they can drain it off occasionally for relief. His legs and feet, especially the right one, get swollen, which makes it difficult to bend and walk but we raised the foot of his bed hoping that would help it drain down (up, actually) in the night while he's sleeping. We're still testing that idea. Also he has support hose which help some, and of course mom's massages.
The good news is he isn't nauseated, has the pain under control, and can still get out and about for short periods of time, even to drive to do errands close by. That's really nice when the weather is so beautiful like it has been the last two days. He didn't think he'd make it through April, but now it's May and he's still with us. that's good for me because I cherish every day we have with him, but maybe not so good for him. We've had some talks about this and I think he'd rather just get on with it and get this transition over with. I can't tell you exactly what to pray for, you'll just have to pray for whatever the Spirit dictates to you, whatever the Lord wants for him.
Valentines Fun!
