April in Review

This year we finally got into some Eastering activities with Claire and Clay. Realizing they were old enough to scavage for their own candy, we armed them with baskets and drove them to three various Easter egg hunts. The first (and poorest) was on base. There was no "hunt" but a line after which you got to pick up one egg and turn it in for a crap prize. With no candy in site, we quickly moved on to the next hunt which our neighborhood was putting on (apparently we do have an HOA and somehow they got in cohoots with the baptist church?). This was a great little egg hunt that got the gist of the situation across. Lawn, plastic eggs, put them in your basket. Got it. The kids did well with grasping the idea but were a bit confused when we had to take most of the candy away as it was a choking hazard. The last and grandest of the hunts was at a local park. This Egg Hunt, or hunts, was quite organized putting kids into groups with times that their hunt would begin. The park was packed with parents and children and offered face painting, BBQ, and train rides. We had the faces painted but remained focused. This time, the candy was allowable and all were pleased. It was a fun morning introducing our little ones to what the Easter season brings. This should probably be wrapped up with a finale of the Easter story and how enraptured and touched Claire and Clay were when the understood the true meaning of Easter. Maybe next year.
The following weekend we hosted a Water Park Birthday Party for our new 2 year olds! It turned out to be a perfect day with accomanying sunshine for all our water spraying toys. All the kids seemed to have a great time. So, it's official! We have two 2 year olds!
And lastly, here's a shout out to anyone who needs a vacation and thinks Tucson might fit the bill. June is going to be a bit lonely here while James goes off for a 6 week training. Afterwards he'll be home for a few days of packing up the house and then off to the desert for 6 months. My current plan is to stay behind and get the house ready to be put on the market while I we're both gone. We'll see how that all works out. I'm so bummed James won't be making our family reunion, but what do you do? So, book your travel plans now!
