Moving back to Provo has been a humbling experience. I have been able to reconnect with old friends, renew old memories, and reestablish my goals and values. This month a couple of my friends from California rallied to raise money for me. They had a specific goal in mind, to buy a laptop. They set up a website to take donations and began a blog about me and my condition. (laptop4drew.blogspot.com) They then proceeded to get the word out to many of my old friends. They made a few of the right contacts here in Provo. The money slowly began to come in. After tapping one resource dry they went on to another contacting old work mates and ward members. Even strangers who stumbled across the blog or who heard about it from others, donated a little. They gave me access to the website so that I could see who was donating and how much they were sending. I was blown away by the people who were rallying around this cause and the amounts they were sending. Several people in my ward who I don't even know sent in generous donations. In the end they were able to present me with a brand new Mac Book Pro, the Cadillac of laptops. I was really touched by the generous nature of my oldest friends and stunned at the giving nature of people everywhere.
